St Kilda Mural Artist
My name is Maria-Rosa Szychowska, I am a french-canadian mural artist. From a very young age, I developed a passion for drawing and painting, which led me to study visual arts at the Cégep de l’Outaouais in Gatineau. Subsequently, I completed a bachelor’s degree in graphic design at the University of Quebec in Outaouais in the same city. In 2014, during a trip to the Canary Islands, I was commissioned to paint my first mural.
That’s when my passion for muralism was born. What followed were years of artistic development around the world, where I created public works of art for a multitude of clients such as the Consulate of Canada of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the Institute of Guatemalan Tourism, the Desjardins Bank and many others.
My murals can be found in Canada, the United-States, Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Brazil, Spain, South Africa, Poland, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia.
My greatest achievements to date are my personal mural project in Latin America called 12-12-12, as well as receiving the Artist of the Year (Outaouais) award, granted by the Conseil des Arts et lettres du Québec (CALQ). I am now based in Melbourne, Australia, and I spend the summer months in Gatineau, Canada, where I still have a great network of clients and art community
